Knowing vs Not Knowing

I hope you are having a great month so far. I was just having a conversation with someone about knowing vs not knowing and the confusion, pain and fear that can result when we are unsure about which way to go. We have so many roles, goals and responsibilities in our lives that we sometimes just go on autopilot and do all the things without really pausing to see if what we are doing is still true to our heart. Then maybe one day we wake up and see that the things we are doing no longer serve us and Read the full article…

Unity in Diversity

Happy February! I hope you are doing well despite all the craziness of our world right now. I have been struggling with what to write for a few days as there is so much I am feeling and so much I want to say. But really what it comes down to in my heart is that Yoga Blend is a safe place for anyone and everyone to practice. The work is to center ourselves and get quiet enough to look deep inside so that we can remember who we truly are. We move and breathe and chant to unite in Read the full article…

Slow & Steady Wins the Race

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday and are ready to start creating an amazing 2017. As we begin the new year, it is a great time to start envisioning what we want our year to look like and setting out a plan for taking action. Often times, the tendency at the start of a new year is to run out of the gates full speed ahead determined to make that change we have been wanting. However, right now we are still in the cold and dark of winter, so it’s best to move slowly and steadily. Read the full article…

Kindness, Compassion & Love by Christy Marsden

First of all…I love and appreciate you for who you are. You deserve love, respect and kindness. I hope you are taking care of yourself during this very chaotic time. It has been just over a week since the election and I have personally experienced a wide range of emotions as I am sure we all have. I have also been doing a lot of reflection. Yoga Blend is not in the business of politics. We are in the art of healing. My intention for Yoga Blend, as it has always been, is to be a sanctuary for everyone to Read the full article…

Peace

I hope your month is going well so far. I have been struggling with what to write for a few days in light of the terrorist attack in Paris and the violence being perpetuated throughout the world. My heart aches with the amount of hatred that exists between humans. I keep wishing I had a megaphone to the world and I could yell “STOP”. Everyone. Just stop. And take a breath. What if we all decided, right here, right now, to end violence? What if we all became deeply compassionate simply by choosing to be so and realized that every Read the full article…

Aloha

I hope you are having a great month so far! It was so great to see so many of you at the studio last week. Currently, I am in Hawaii about to begin our 10th annual Charka Retreat. It is so magical being on the Big Island and I love how easy and natural it feels to drop into the spirit of Aloha. I’ve been to Hawaii many times and I always knew that ‘Aloha’ was a greeting used in Hawaii but up until a few years ago, I didn’t know that ‘Aloha’ meant ‘to share in the breath of Read the full article…

Commit

I hope you are have a great month so far! As I mentioned at the first of the month, September is Yoga Month which is a great time to commit or re-commit to your yoga practice. The past few weeks, I have been re-committing to my practice in a whole new way. If you saw my practice from the outside, it wouldn’t look like much. But from the inside, my practice is deepening in ways that I never expected and this is such a great lesson for me. Things aren’t always what they seem and when we attach ourselves to Read the full article…

Trust

Yoga Blend, Burbank, Christy Marsden

I hope you are having a great summer so far. I’ll admit, mine has been a little all over the place, lots of highs and lots of lows and it seems to be the case for most everyone I talk to. Intensity is in the air. In the midst of it all, the word that keeps coming up for me is trust. Trust that no matter what happens, things will work out. They always have and they always will. Maybe not in the way I want or think, but inevitably, I will grow from whatever happens. Every experience I have Read the full article…

Just Breathe

Happy June! Whether life is going well or life is challenging, just breathe. Sometimes when things are going well, I find myself holding my breath. As if I want to hold onto the good and not let it go. However, change is inevitable, so it’s best to just take it in and appreciate it while things are going well. Even more often, I find myself holding my breath when things are challenging. As if by holding my breath, the challenge won’t actually enter my life. If only it were that simple. Most of us are not taught to breathe through Read the full article…
