Christy, Owner and Founder of Yoga Blend, began her life long study of yoga 13 years ago in Nashville, TN and initially studied both Iyengar and Ashtanga yoga. She first tried yoga to find relief from the severe lower back pain she had suffered from most of her life. Yoga did help tremendously with the back pain and in addition to healing her body, she was also able to heal her mind and her spirit. In 1997, she completed the first of many yoga teacher trainings and is currently studying in the Krishnamacharya lineage. Due to her own life changing experiences through the practice of yoga, Christy is most interested in how yoga can bring about great transformation in all area’s of one’s life, particularly in the context of relationships. Christy works privately with students to help them find more sustained joy in all areas of their life. Christy’s group classes are an eclectic blend of the many facets of yoga while staying true to the ancient art of integrating body, breath and mind. Her passion for the practice is contagious. The classes are accessible to all and are taught in a fun, safe and nurturing environment with encouragement to start where you are and embrace it fully!

Yoga has been one of the greatest gifts in Bekah's life. Through the last six years, the study of Yoga has deepened Bekah's awareness of her body, her mind, her spirit as well as her relationships to the world around her. The opening created by her practice inspired her to share it with others (we only keep what we give away) and in turn she has been gifted with amazing students and teachers. Recently her passion has brought her to the study of earth medicine and sacred arts. Her passion is combining yoga asana with the natural movement of the earth- honoring the lunar cycles and the seasons. Bekah firmly believes we can heal ourselves and our planet by tuning in to the natural flow of the world around us and allowing our bodies to guide us into balance. Her classes are a combination of sweetness, sassiness and the support needed to take the next indicated step. |

Nicole worked in corporate America since graduating college. During those years she met and worked with Christy Marsden. Christy taught Nicole her first yoga class and Nicole fell in love. For years, Nicole’s work prevented her from committing fully to her practice. After ending her last job managing a health club, she started attending class on a regular basis to reconnect with Christy and before she knew it she was devoting all of her free time to yoga. Yoga was the only thing Nicole could ever talk about and her friends kept encouraging her to become a teacher. And that is just what she did. Nicole and Christy’s paths have brought them together again. In the beginning, Yoga was very much about the physical for Nicole but it has turned into a mental and spiritual journey as well. She has an open heart about where her practice is going to take her and is eager to share her experiences with her students. |

Bindu has been an enthusiastic student of Yoga, Zen, and the liberative arts since 1994. With a teacher certification from the White Lotus Foundation in 1996, he began his lifelong study of teaching yoga. His primary influence in yogic embodiment is Ranjani Mari Elaine Cobo, M.D., a long time student of Pattabhi Jois and B.K.S. Iyengar, and others in the Krishnamacharya lineage. Bindu has practiced with an emphasis on partner-support relationship, and individualized specification - addressing the distinct personal development of each practitioner. Ordained as a monk in the Rinzai Zen tradition in 2000, Bindu completed his initial 1000 day monastic training in 2004. In 2001, he met Teja Bell, his true-heart teacher of martial arts. His practice of Chi Gung and other ‘energy arts’ powerfully complement and inform the meditation and yoga practices. |

Vicki fell in love with Hatha Yoga over 12 years ago, and has been teaching it --in studios and privately-- since 2000. She completed her teacher training at Yoga Villa, in North Hollywood, where she learned Hatha Yoga basics, as well as the unique practice of Female Balancing, developed by Brenda Strong. Over the years, Vicki has also studied Ashtanga, “Power Yoga,” Pre-Natal, and Tai Chi. Her classes emphasize Vinyasa flow, the union of breath and movement in a sort of “dance” that calm the mind and allow one’s spirit and self-expression to emerge more fully. Vicki is fascinated with the processes of self-growth and spiritual awakening. She has a Master’s Degree in Behavioral Communications, and uses her yoga practice to progressively uncover her deepest, truest self – including the “shadow” elements that need looking at -- and she passionately invites her students to do the same. Her teaching style is simultaneously nurturing and challenging. Along with teaching yoga, Vicki writes and acts, and is a mother and life coach. |

Keric took his first yoga class in the spring of 2002 at a local gym after sustaining a shoulder injury while lifting weights. He knew immediately that yoga offered more than just a great workout. Yoga quickly became training for his body, mind, and spirit. Keric has studied a variety of styles and enjoys them all for their diverse offerings. His ongoing training is in the Anusara style, a heart-opening practice that focuses on alignment. Keric’s teaching is creative and fun, helping students take their practice off the mat and into their daily lives. |

David Adams |
|
A former professional athlete, David represented Australia in international gliding competitions for ten years. He was first introduced to the principles of yoga while studying Sport Psychology at the Australian Institute of Sport in 1992. David retained a basic practice suited more to the physical aspects of his training, yet knew that one day he would dedicate himself to a committed yogic lifestyle. More recently, he has been able to devote himself fully to his practice and now enjoys the wonderful experience of peace and continued health that a daily commitment brings. While always a student, he is honored to have the chance to teach yoga and hopes to share his passion with fellow students all over the world. |

Yoga, like life, is always a learning process. Larry will be the first to tell you he resisted yoga in the beginning. A self-proclaimed "gym rat", he took his first class in an effort to heal an old back injury. Now 5 years later, the back is better and his journey has led him from incorporating yoga as part of his workout routine to a daily practice, encompassing body, mind and spirit. For Larry, teaching yoga is an honor and part of the process of giving back for all the benefits yoga has brought him. He looks forward to seeing you in his class, challenging you on and off the mat. |

Rachelanne discovered Pilates in the late 1990’s when she began to become aware of her body beginning to feel the effects of her quickly creeping “30’s”. Conventional exercise did not appeal, and a student in her yoga class suggested she come with her to try Pilates. It was love at first class. Needing to modify some of the exercises in the beginning, she quickly saw improvements, and two years later, desiring to share her experience, she began to teach others. A student of surgical technology and kinesiology, Rachelanne looks forward to welcoming students of all fitness levels including those dealing with injuries and pain management, to become fellow addicts of this wonderful exercise form! |

Dana Chaisson |

Luck and destiny led Dana to Yoga Blend. It was here that she quickly discovered yoga is not just a challenging workout with a bunch of awesome people, but a therapy session for the soul. Dana recalls saying as a child “I want to be a teacher when I grow up.” As she got older, she would think back on that statement—was there anything she cared about so much that she could possibly teach others? Nothing came to mind for 20 years. Finally, after going on her first yoga retreat, everything snapped into place: she would teach yoga! This amazing action that changes lives, cultivates peace and inspires others -this is what she must give back to the Universe. Then everything in her life began to shift, allowing her to escape from under the fluorescent lights and cubicle walls of the unforgiving corporate world…and she found freedom and renewal in the studio. Along with her newfound love for asana, yoga philosophy, chakras, meditation and pranayama, Dana also became increasingly aware that there is much more to life than being human and “going through the motions”. She began to study metaphysics and work on her own intuition. This lead to her knowledge and understanding of spirit guides, angels and past life therapy. Her work in the spiritual realm has and continues to heal and inspire others and she is always humbled, amazed and grateful to be a channel for God’s work. Dana believes that laughter is one of the greatest tools we have. (Yep, that and the breath!) You will most likely be served a giggle or two in her classes, with a dollop of joy and a side of vitality...all to be washed down with a hot cup of Shanti! |

Heather’s relationship with yoga began about 10 years ago. She instantly fell in love with the asanas, the poses. Yoga became a way for her to learn about her body. Her curiosity sent her on a quest to study with many different styles and teachers through which she discovered that Yoga is more than just the movement. On her path, Heather began incorporating various Insightful Meditation techniques into her practice. She loves this blend because it offers a space to continually re-discover yourself by working through limitations, releasing attachments, and liberating the body, mind and soul - allowing you to hear the heart's desires and ultimately live the truth that lies within. The practice is your own and it shifts just like your life. Yoga and Meditation have been essential to Heather’s life journey. She is grateful to have this experience, to be a part of the Yoga Blend community and to share this wonderful practice with others. Her intention is to create an environment where you can feel safe and free to explore your personal path and giggle every now and again. |

Kim was blessed with learning Pilates in a very trying stage in her life. During her dance years, Kim had never been comfortable with her body. When her interests shifted over to acting in the weight-obsessed community of Hollywood, her poor body image still remained. In the midst of battling bulimia, Kim discovered Pilates- a true blessing in disguise. Within weeks she noticed changes in her body: carrying herself better, stronger core muscles, and more confidence. Through extensive self-examination and hard work, Pilates, in part, helped her overcome her eating disorder, giving her a confidence that she still wishes to share with others. Kim welcomes all shapes, sizes, and injuries into her class, hoping to endow them with the same love for their bodies as she has discovered for herself. |

Sharon discovered yoga through a deep desire for personal transformation and after years of struggling with arthritis and refusing to settle on medication as the only solution. Realizing the importance of a connection to spirit for balance and self-healing, she focuses on the breath as an avenue towards union within. Each class is led with the intent to inspire a deeper connection and encourage a respect for the body’s natural response. She received her training and certification through the White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara with further studies in Therapeutic Yoga. Her teaching focuses on a gentle approach to a strong practice led by the breath to a peaceful place. |
