Yoga Gives Us Time

Happy middle of the month!

“Yoga doesn’t take time, it gives time.” This quote by Ganga White is one that I find myself repeating on a regular basis when I think, ‘I don’t have time for yoga today.’ By doing yoga, I actually give myself more time to do the things I need to do.

It is easy to get caught up in all of our roles and responsibilities and put our own needs and self-care on the back burner because we feel that we don’t have time. However, when we are empty and depleted, everything feels harder. When we are stressed about something, we are not at our best and things can take longer.

With the routine of a regular practice, we feel more grounded and focused. We are able to handle obstacles more efficiently and effectively. We remain calm during the storms and we are able to stay focused on the task at hand.

All of this results in more time. I have made every excuse under the sun for why I couldn’t do my practice on any given day so I do understand how challenging it can be to commit to a regular practice. However, when I do, I am amazed at just how much I can accomplish in a day.

Just a few minutes of tuning into your breath, moving your spine and settling the mind can go a long way toward making your day feel longer, more productive and ultimately more enjoyable.
