Hello and Happy New Year! I hope your 2019 is off to a great start!
The beginning of a new year is a great time to envision what it is we want for our lives, set intentions and take actions in order to move towards that vision.
Visualization in Yoga is the ability to see what it is that we want to call into existence. It is also a feeling, an attitude, a way of being. It is not about putting off happiness into the future when all the circumstances are different, but rather seeing a future we love so that we are motivated in the present to start living in alignment with that vision.
If we cannot see what it is that we want for ourselves, how do we know how to live now? In order to draw something towards us, we need to be living and acting as if it is already true. In being more conscious and intentional in our every day choices, we can begin to create the life we want to be living. Right here and now.
So, as you imagine what it is that you want for your life and your year, spend some time meditating on what that would look like, how would it feel, how you would eat, breathe, move, speak and think. In order to create our vision, we have to develop and embody the attitude of that vision and do our best to live consciously with all that we do. That way, when it arrives, we are ready to receive it because it is already who we are.
