October Featured Teacher: Jo Levey

At the core of the Yoga Blend experience are our dedicated, passionate teachers. This month, we feature JO LEVEY!

Hometown: LA Native!  My dad and I moved to Burbank when I was 10 years old, and both my parents still live within a couple minutes of Yoga Blend!  I’ve always been proud to call Burbank my home base 🙂 Jo-blog

What are you most looking forward to in the year ahead? Continuing to work on my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, and hopefully transferring from Valley College to University!

My favorite place in the world is… My favorite city that I’ve been to is Barcelona, Spain.  The weather reminded my of Southern California, but it’s full of historical art and architecture, and the metro goes all the way to the beach!  Someday LA…

Most memorable thing I did in the last 12 months: I got a A in Algebra!!!

Dream vacation destination: I’ve always wanted to go to Greece.  Those white buildings on the coast look so peaceful to me!

Proudest achievement: I sometimes struggle feeling proud of my achievements, but I can say that I’m proud of my intentions.  I intend to be positive and uplifting to those around me, and to myself, whenever possible.

3 words to describe yourself: Curious, passionate, and kind.

Childhood ambition: One of my main ambitions as a child was to someday have my own kids.  I’m not quite there yet, so I’m teaching yoga to other people’s kids instead!

If I were an animal, I would be… A cat.  Independent, resilient, perhaps a little aloof at first, but overall lovable and affectionate 🙂

If you could go back in time, what would you say to your 20-year-old self? I first became a student at Yoga Blend when I was 19 going on 20 (almost 10 years ago!) My 20-year-old self needed A LOT of work.  I thought I was doing yoga to help manage a neck injury, but I was actually doing it to become the person that I am today.  I wouldn’t change anything about my journey so far, and that’s very much thanks to my wonderful YB family!

Jo teaches two Kids Yoga classes every Monday: Age 4-7 4pm; Ages 8-12 4:40pm.
Grown-ups can join her every Wednesday from 1pm to 2pm for Yoga Stretch, just $9. See her full schedule at http://bit.ly/YBJoLevey
