I hope you had a wonderful Halloween full of tricks, treats and magic!
The season of change is upon us. The weather is changing (especially here in Tennessee) and the nights are growing longer. This weekend we will set our clocks to standard time and fall back into more darkness.
In the past, I have struggled with this time of year. Although I was born in November, I am a child of the summer. I thrive in the warmth and the light. The cold makes me shiver and the dark makes me question. Everything. And therein lies the power of the dark. We are meant to bundle up, turn our attention inward, sleep more (and therefore dream more) which encourages us to reflect upon and question what has worked and what has not, to let go and to rest in the darkness of the unknown before we prepare for the light once again.
I do my best each year to really embrace and honor this cycle and I admit it is always a struggle. And such is life. Sometimes things are easy and sometimes we struggle. This time of year reminds me to be present and honor this process that is our lives. My intention is to up my practice by focusing on meditation, mantra and journaling by candlelight using as little artificial light as possible, surrounding myself with warm blankets, hot tea and good friends while eating nourishing foods and getting more sleep. I intend to welcome this process of not knowing and of letting go while surrendering to the darkness and all the things that inevitably must fall away.
One of things that I know helps me through the darkness is community…and that is YOU! So my goal is to be at the studio teaching more regularly in the coming months with workshops, teacher training and regular monthly classes that I will be teaching when I am in town on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 6:45pm and Friday mornings at 9:30am.
I hope to see you in classes or around the studio so we can share in this dark and transformative time together.
With infinite love and gratitude…
