Happy New Year! I hope you have had a wonderful Holiday being surrounded by family and friends. I am sitting in a hotel room in Chicago as I type. My husband and I are here for a 4 day New Year’s Event where the theme is ‘Incredible’ and the question is ‘What would make this event an incredible one for you and what are you willing to do to make it so?’ It’s really had Jason and I thinking and that line of thinking has lead me beyond this week and into the upcoming year. What am I willing to do to make this year an incredible one?
The practice of Yoga teaches that all the answers lie within us. We have heard to “be the change we seek” as Gandhi taught. And yet, it is very easy to look outside of ourselves seeking answers. Yes, it is good to have help and support and guidance as we figure things out, but ultimately, we have to realize that anything we want to create, it is up to us to do so. No one else is going to do it for us.
So, what do you want this year to look like? Instead of just listing a bunch of goals and putting so much pressure on ourselves to reach them in order to make us feel we have ‘resolved’ something, perhaps we can take a different approach by stepping back and seeing the big picture. We can become the artist looking at the canvas of our life to see what may not be working and what we are missing, as well as what is working and what we want more of. Then, it is up to us to shape, mold and paint that world. It is ok to get specific with our goals, in fact, we must in order to bring something to fruition. However, we must also remember those goals are merely pieces of the entire puzzle of what it means to have an incredible life.
Thank you for being a part of my life. Now, let’s all get out there and create an incredible year!
